  hi folks!.

  why does not jehovah's witnesses (jw) use one common.

  language for its worship services, let us say, english.. does not the bible say that the whole earth originally had.

  Best Bible Translation?

  my wife has been a jw for about 10 years (we have been married 15 years).

  over the years i have tried various strategies to deal with this, which i won't go into here...except that i have agreed to "read the bible" with my wife...and i get to pick the translation.. what translation would be best recommended to help highlight the errors of the nwt and jw thinking in general?

  i have seen here that today's english version has been recommended...anything else?

  I like the New American Standard Bible. It uses the same Hebrew and Greek texts (Westcott and Hort)

  If you can't understand the Bible, how do "you" know? You only have 2nd hand (hearsay) information.

  Revelation 11:18 ("bring to ruin those ruining the earth") Meaning?

  hey folks,.

  just curious, any concensus on what john actually meant here?

  i doubt a guy in the first century could honestly envision a time when mankind could genuinely "ruin the earth" if the idea struck them.

  Advances in every aspect of human endevour has resulted in unprecedented lifespans and cooperation. It is unfortunate that there is a growing negativity in some circles(notably fundementalists) that ignores or distains this achievement, offering nothing but critism and finger pointing.

  when i read of the many natural calamities that have killed billions of people over the centuries i wonder if god is interested at all?

  when i see the importance that the bible makes of just one death of god's sons, when he was resurrected and given a higher position just 3 days later, what about all those millions of human sons.. i guess we are like an ant hill to god, if you happen to step on it, who cares.. ken p.

  this question seems to be getting thrown around in the earthquake threads, and is asked a lot... so, what is your opinion on why god allows bad things to happen?

  also, did you stop believing in god because he allows it?.

  God doesn't "allow" bad things to happen. He causes them.

  Isa 45:7
